Website Design for Isle of Man DFAS

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

I’m pleased to say that a recent trip to the Isle of Man was a success and Pixelwave Web Design will soon be starting work on a website for the Isle of Man Decorative and Fine Arts Society website.

The proposed website is intended as both a promotional tool for IOM-DFAS as well as providing current members of the society with up to date information regarding its activities. In addition to providing background information regarding the aims, objectives and history of the society it will contain a programme of events and lectures along with important contact details.

As always Pixelwave Web Design will be concentration on making the website attractive, easy to use, conformable to modern web standards, accessible and search engine friendly. I’m looking forward to starting work on the site in the near future.

Website Design for B&B in Wales

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Following a successful preliminary meeting earlier this week Pixelwave Web Design is looking forward to starting work on a new website for a lovely sounding B&B nestling in the countryside of rural Mid Wales.

The B&B is within a traditional farmhouse set in about 20 acres of land, with a couple of acres of fishpools. The website I’ll be building for this new business venture will be based on a Content Management System allowing the business owner to keep the site up to date on a regular basis.

It is hoped that updating the website will become part of a regular routine so that visitors to the website will be able to see what is going on in the surrounding area from day to day. New content will be added to the website recommending places to visit, informing of upcoming events and generally reporting on any interesting news or developments of interest to people visiting the area.

Updating a website on a regular basis like this not only keeps the site fresh and makes it a worthwhile read, but it has many other benefits too. It improves rankings in search engines as it helps expand the footprint of the website and adds new pages to the site each of which can be highly targeted for particular keywords. Also, Search engines such as Google tend to rank sites that are regularly updated higher than those that are not.

It also enables marketing and networking opportunities with other local businesses and keeps the cost of website maintenance to a minimum as the website can be updated without having to return to your web-developer. Content Management Systems can be complicated and unweildy but that isn’t always the case. The owner of the B&B is relatively new to the world of websites and will need some training in the use of the CMS, but the system will be kept as simple as possible so that it will be easy for her to add new content (and update existing content) on the website as often as possible.

I’m looking forward to getting started on this project and will update you soon on progress.
