Web Accessibility Guidelines 2.0

The Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) have just released a working draft of their guidelines for web content accessibility (version 2.0) along with a working draft of their HTML Techniques for Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

These guidelines contain:

principles, guidelines, success criteria, benefits, and examples that define and explain the requirements for making Web-based information and applications accessible. "Accessible" means usable to a wide range of people with disabilities, including blindness and low vision, deafness and hearing loss, learning difficulties, cognitive limitations, limited movement, speech difficulties, and others. Following these guidelines will also make your Web content more accessible to the vast majority of users, including older users. It will also enable people to access Web content using many different devices - including a wide variety of assistive technologies.

For me as a web-designer committed to producing conformable and accessible websites then this will of course all make interesting and essential reading. I'm also hoping that when finished version 2.0 of these guidelines will clear up some of the slightly vague recommendations within the previous guidelines.
